A brief history of Camp 30, the German POW camp in Bowmanville, Ontario during World War II. These stories are told by men that were there, and give incredible insight into an important part of Canada’s war history. Full interviews with those involved are available for license. The footage contains conversations with Volkmar Konig – German Navy, J. Bruno Petrenko – German Airforce, Jack Garnett – Canadian Army, and Lynn Phillip Hodgson – author/historian and consultant on CBC’s X Company.

About Jury Lands Foundation

The Jury Lands Foundation is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to preserving Camp 30—Canada’s last remaining WWII prisoner-of-war camp with original buildings intact. Based in Clarington, Ontario, we work to protect, restore, and share this nationally significant site through education, community events, and historical interpretation.

Run – Ride – Relay to Save Camp 30.
Take on a 60 KM self-supported challenge through Durham Region -connecting some of our area’s most significant military and WWII sites. We are working to help raise 1.6 million dollars for phase 1 rehabilitarion and conservation of the former Cafeteria building at Camp 30. Construction work on the Cafeteria began last month-September 2026.
