The historic Camp 30 site in Bowmanville is at risk. Clarington Council will soon vote on whether to demolish the Cafeteria building — a key piece of this nationally recognized World War II prisoner-of-war site and the location of the only WWII battle fought on Canadian soil.
The Jury Lands Foundation believes this building should not be torn down, but instead preserved and transformed into a Community Hub for Clarington. With community input, the Cafeteria could become a vibrant space for families, cultural programs, child care, markets, events, and more — ensuring that Camp 30 remains a place that connects our past with our future.
On September 26 and 27, hundreds of residents came out to our outdoor movie nights and family picnic on the Camp 30 grounds. The message was clear: our community cares about this site, and people want their voices heard.
We’ve now launched a petition to show Clarington Council the depth of support for saving Camp 30’s Cafeteria building. By signing, you are standing with us to say: don’t demolish our history — build a community hub instead.
